Aaron Pilnick, PhD
Co-Founder & Chief Science OfficerAaron Pilnick is a coral reef scientist whose research sits at the intersection of restoration ecology and applied marine science. He holds a PhD in Interdisciplinary Ecology from the University of Florida and has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications on reef restoration and ecosystem recovery, work that addresses one of the defining environmental challenges of our time: the rapid decline of coral reefs under warming oceans, disease, and compounding stressors. At Symbio Immersive, Aaron serves as Chief Science Officer, ensuring that every experience the company produces reflects the current state of the science accurately and without compromise. He brings the same rigor to the production process that he brings to the research.
Co-Founder, Creative Director & TechnologistAlex Pilnick
Alex Pilnick is a director and creative technologist with over a decade of experience in documentary, commercial, and immersive VR production. He came to filmmaking through marine science and geology, a background that shapes a distinctly research-minded approach to storytelling and a genuine understanding of the science behind the stories. He has built VR experiences for Fortune 500 clients, developed production pipelines from the ground up, and directed content that has reached more than a million learners. At Symbio Immersive, Alex leads creative and technical production across concept development, cinematography, real-time 3D, and generative AI.
